Moving in Gotha, a Small Town That Stayed Small

Gotha is one of the few places in west Orange County that has resisted becoming a subdivision. It was settled by German families in the 1880s and it still feels like it, with narrow lanes, heavy oak canopy, large lots and very little of the sidewalk and streetlight geometry that surrounds it on every side.

That character is lovely to live in and genuinely awkward to move a truck through. We are roughly half an hour from our Altamonte Springs office and we work the Gotha and Windermere area regularly, so we know which lanes a full size truck can sensibly use and which ones it cannot.

Narrow Lanes, Low Branches, and No Turnaround

The practical problems here are access, not lifting. Several Gotha roads are effectively one lane with a soft shoulder, the tree canopy hangs low enough to rule out a tall box truck on some stretches, and plenty of properties have no room to turn a large vehicle around once it is in.

So we look at the route and the driveway before we dispatch, and on some jobs the right answer is a smaller truck making an extra trip rather than a big one that cannot get to the door. It costs a little more time and it avoids the kind of damage that nobody wants to be explaining afterwards.

Older Homes and Newer Estates

The housing here splits between genuinely old properties and large newer builds on generous lots, and the two need different handling. Older Gotha homes come with the usual character features that complicate a move, narrow doorways, steep stairs and floors worth protecting properly.

The newer estates bring size instead: more rooms, heavier furniture and often a workshop or garage that holds more than anyone remembers. We walk the property and quote from what is actually there. For the bigger jobs our residential moving service covers packing through final placement if you would rather hand over the whole thing.

Working Around the Rest of West Orange

Gotha sits between Winter Garden, Ocoee and Windermere, and a lot of moves here are short hops into one of them. Those are easy days when they are planned and slow ones when they are not, mostly because of how the traffic moves on Hempel and the surrounding connectors at school and commuter hours.

We schedule around that. Summer storms are the other consideration, and on unpaved or shaded drives the ground stays soft well after the rain stops, so we load early in the day whenever the schedule allows it.

4.9from over 700 Google reviews of Orlando Moving Company

This past weekend, they helped move my mother, and from start to finish they were absolutely outstanding. They were professional, efficient, hardworking, and incredibly respectful throughout the entire process. What impressed me most was how carefully they treated my mother’s fragile and sentimental items.

We recently used this company for a long-distance move from Oviedo, Florida, to Mitchell, Indiana, moving our 4-bedroom home filled with antiques, and they exceeded every expectation. The entire crew was professional, respectful, and handled our belongings with exceptional care.

The crew arrived exactly on time, worked quickly without sacrificing quality, and handled every item with professionalism and care. They were flexible when plans shifted, accommodating every request with a positive attitude and a solution-oriented mindset. Nothing felt rushed, yet everything was completed efficiently.
