The crew shows up with dollies, straps and furniture pads, and at the other end the same kind of help unloads and places everything in the rooms where it belongs.
Because you’re providing the vehicle, you’re paying for people and time, not a truck and a driver. That’s why labor only costs less than a full-service move, and why it’s a good fit when the drive is short or the container is already booked.
Why a Good Load Matters More Than the Truck
Most damage on a do-it-yourself move doesn’t happen on the highway. It happens because the truck was loaded loose. A good load puts appliances and heavy dressers against the front wall, builds tight tiers from floor to ceiling, stands mattresses and table tops on edge, and fills gaps with soft goods so nothing has room to slide when the truck brakes on I-4.
Portable containers are less forgiving than trucks, because they get lifted onto a trailer and set back down, and anything loose shifts when that happens. If the container is going into storage it may sit for months, so the way it’s loaded is the way it arrives.
